A Critical Political Choice
Do The Voters of the 4th Congressional District Really Want a Change?
This election brings all of us, as residents of the 4th Congressional District, to a very clear and relatively simple question, do we want a new voice in Washington D. C. representing the issues that confront us and indeed every American? If the answer to this question is that we are happy with the representation that Doc Hastings has been giving then it is clear, he will be re-elected.
However, if we feel that the Republican party and Doc Hastings (Doc Hastings voting record is very clear, he votes the straight Republican party line) are no longer representing both the best interest of the 4th District nor the best interest of America, we are confronted with an important political decision. Not only must we choose a candidate who represents a program that will focus on the solutions to the problems that must be solved both for our District but also for our country, but also which candidate offers the best chance of being elected in November.
It is important to remember that in November there will only be two names on the ballot…the top two vote getters from the August primary. This time there may or may not be a Republican and Democrat on the November ballot. The November ballot will offer the voters a clear choice between two names and two names only.
For the independent voter in the 4th District, the August Primary and the November election offer an easier decision. This time there is an independent candidate running. His platform is focused on finding solutions to the problems we face, like making it easier for our farmers and orchardists to obtain the seasonal labor that is essential to the success of our agricultural economy, like having the TSA (Transportation Safety Administration) work more closely with our packers and shippers to make the distribution of our products more efficient, representing a truly conservative fiscal program for our country, etc.
The independent voter also realizes that with the new top two election system, if an independent is on the ballot in November there is the very real possibility that the voters of the 4th Congressional District could send a new, fresh voice to be our representative in Washington D. C. An independent candidate will have a broader appeal to all those who want to see our country move back toward a truly conservative fiscal policy, one that is sustainable for the long term.
It is at this point that the Democrats within the 4th District are faced with a decision. Do they stick with their party’s candidate in the primary and assure that Doc is re-elected in November? The voting patterns in our district are quite clear. No Democrat challenger has succeeded for one basically simple reason...our district is simply more fiscally conservative than the Democrat party. Also the Democrat party has often been the party that has promoted restrictive gun legislation and other policies that simply do not appeal to the values and principles of the residents of Central Washington.
The choice is clear. A traditional party vote in August will result in a Republican win in November. It will result in a continuation of the politics of polarization and of gridlock in Washington D. C.
For ALL of those voters in the 4th District who would like to see a stronger voice for fiscally conservative government policies but a representative who respects and values the independent spirit of our western heritage and lifestyle, then there is a clear alternative, the Independent Candidate, Leland Yialelis. His candidacy offers all voters the opportunity to elect a representative that puts the interests of the 4th District ahead of party politics, that puts the interests of America ahead of partisan gridlock. This includes Republicans who really favor a more efficient, cost conscious government that will focus on ending deficit spending, Democrats who want a government that understands that it must honor both individual responsibility and provide the proper social structures to foster that, and Independents who would like to see a government that no longer polarizes every issue but rather a government that is focused on solving the very real problems that confront us all.
You do not have to choose between the Party of endlessly big government and the Party of NO. You can choose to vote for a representative that understands that we really do want to see solutions coming out of Washington D. C.
Think Independent. Be Independent. Vote Independent.
